Second attempt on Hyde Park scheduled for March 4

We plan to make our second attempt on Hyde Park, NY on March 4th. I mentioned this to our sister Anne (http://www.annesbusyhands.blogspot.com/) because, since John can't come (some excuse about church and family obligations) we have a fourth seat open in the car. It would be fun to have her along, because I've started knocking around some ideas for poems for each of the presidents, and Anne has written poetry. (John's poem ode to Punxsutaney Phil was rather notable in its day, too) I'll have to do some of them retroactivly, but I've already got some material in mind for a sonnet for Franklin Pierce, and either a couplet or a haiku for Calvin Coolidge. I'll post them when I've got them.

As for the fourth seat, it might end up being filled by any number of Unitarians, as Barbara accidentally e-mailed the itinerary to her church's board of trustees. Should be a fun trip either way...

Greetings fellow tourists of the Dead of State...

Hi everyone - I hope this works, as I have never posted to a blog before. Once we have decided what we should call this, we need to figure out what we should call ourselves. Deadheads seems to have been taken. I don't think DPT would work either....

I wanted to call our project "The Dead President's Magical Mystery Tour," but that plan was rejected.

I have to note: While I did participate in the Arthur cemetary search, and the VanBuren trek through some Mayberryish part of New York (I can't remember the name right now, but it seemed to have several redundant syllables) I unfortunately had to miss the Cooledge/Pierce expedition. My sad loss.

- the family does not understand this strange obsession - when we are done, can we do Supreme Court Justices?

Deathmarch or Tour?

Ok, at first, we called this project The Presidential DeathMarch, but Barbara has asked that we call it The Dead Presidents Tour. I can see what she means. The term Deathmarch might be considered offensive, or might be otherwise misinterpreted. So now we call it the Dead Presidents Tour, but I still like DeathMarch better. We'll have to see what Barbara has to say.
